LA Dodgers honor lifelong baseball fan and Lakers star Kobe Bryant at recent home game
LOS ANGELES, Aug. 25, 2024 — The Los Angeles Dodgers, a professional baseball team a part of MLB, are hosting a celebration and memorial for former Los Angeles Lakers player, Kobe Bryant. The Dodgers will be handing out t-shirts to fans upon their arrival to the stadium, as well as Bryant’s family throwing the first pitch.
The Dodgers are rolling out a series of commemorative activities in tribute to Bryant’s remarkable legacy. During the game against the Tampa Bay Rays, the Dodgers will host Bryant's family on the field along with in-game tributes for the late Lakers star. Fans will also be able to purchase exclusive Bryant merchandise only sold in the stadium, symbolizing the deep connection between Bryant and the city of Los Angeles.
"Kobe Bryant was a legend who transcended sports, inspiring millions with his work ethic, passion and commitment,” said Dave Roberts, manager of the Los Angeles Dodgers. “It's an honor for the Dodgers to celebrate his legacy and share this special day with our fans, who, like Kobe, embody the spirit of Los Angeles."
The remembrance activities will take place on Aug. 25, 2024, at 6:10 p.m. The event will take place at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles. The evening will be filled with heartfelt tributes to the Lakers legend and his family. The Dodgers have planned a range of in-game activities, including a special tribute video and on-field recognitions that celebrate Bryant’s contributions to both basketball and his impact on the community. In addition, Bryant’s family will have the honor of throwing the ceremonial first pitch, a gesture reflecting the respect held for Bryant by the Dodgers.
"Kobe Bryant was not just a Lakers icon but a symbol of greatness across the city of Los Angeles,” said Jeanie Buss, governor of the Lakers. “The Dodgers' tribute is a beautiful reminder of how Kobe's influence extended beyond basketball, touching our community."
